Once Upon a Time… The Thumb Ruled

Image
Imagine your right thumb (have a closer look) gets a blessing and becomes highly intelligent and uses that to become the biggest, the largest, the healthiest, the smartest and so on. It manages to do this again & again… some times by starving little pinky and at other times by threatening the pointer. The growth & progress of the thumb was stupendous and one day it grew larger than its hand. It garnered a lot more power & position in the body due to its sheer weight. It got higher voting rights and even got a Board seat! Brain & Heart were side-lined.  Do you think that the body will suffer if such a thing really happened? You are absolutely right! The pinky & pointer were starving to death. The hand found it increasingly difficult to function. The body got imbalanced & tilted. But thumb had great influence and directed everyone to sacrifice & do their best in such times of great crisis and save the only body they all had. He announced subsidie...

Purpose Before Profits

Image
The World Today In a highly competitive business world and being part of it myself for over a decade, wherever I see, the current model is too focused on making money. Man is this greedy little specie inhabiting the planet doing whatever he can to outdo other to constantly become richer. The last few hundred years has built on an idea of a business whose main purpose is to maximize profits at all costs. Everything else is secondary. At all costs I say because these establishments grew in strength across the world along with its flawed support systems giving rise to extreme major problems that we are now trying to find solutions for. Don’t you find this insane? We are creating problems through our business ventures and then we are trying to find a solution for it simultaneously only to create more problems. If you glance at social media today we are constantly being faced with various threats of losing the planet, for e.g. the forest fires happening in the Amazon are all...

Unity In Diversity

Diversity Leads to Unity Over the years through my understanding of Nature, Business, Philosophy and my own life's circumstances, I came to an interesting conclusion that Diversity in all areas is the essence of a harmonious living. A living being that not only sustains, but thrives. The term diversity means a varied surrounding with differences in each and every component that ultimately forms the unified model or picture. Let us visualize a grand orchestral recitation; a melodious composition can only be produced by the synchronization of diverse instruments very often originating from different countries coming together. Similarly when we pay close attention to the various life forms and how they all play a pivotal role in the functioning of the universe we will see how diversity ultimately leads to Unity. From the study of the Macro cosmos to the Micro cosmos, diversity can be observed at all levels. When we take the human body as a single functioning Unit, we can...

10 Business Lessons From Natural Farming

Image
Natural Farming and Us While I was working on this topic, I came across an article titled “Leading agile transformation: The new capabilities leaders need to build 21st-century organizations”. It was published in October 2018 by Mckinsey & Company and written by Aaron De Smet, Michael Lurie, Andrew St George. I quote one of the paragraphs here “Now, it might be appropriate to explore a new language of leadership: the leader as visionary, architect, coach, and catalyst. For organizations seen as living organisms, the appropriate metaphor might be for the leader to be a gardener — a creative guide and steward who has a nurturing role and a variety of relations with different parts of a garden. For instance, as a gardener, the agile leader might pay attention to creating the fertile soil and environment that will enable growth and creativity to flourish.” I have been researching on the subject of natural farming and recently did a course at Bhaskar Save’s farm Kalpavruksha ...
